We're Going to Mexico
and we'd love for you to be a part of the team!

From February 2-8, you're invited to join a group from Emmaus Road as they head to Mexico to work with an incredible ministry called Casa De Luz (House of Light).  

What will the team be doing? 

  • Host a VBS program — including teaching, music, crafts, and play. 
  • Organize a big celebration for the kids. 
  • Participate in work projects to maintain CDL facilities and bless community members with help around their homes. 
  • Tour Primo Tapia and spend time praying over the community. 
  • Spend time with one of the CDL moms, hearing her story and praying for her. 
  • Attend a service at La Hermosa Church. 
  • Bless the CDL staff (details TBD). 
  • Deliver hampers to families and pray for their specific needs. 
  • Host the CDL youth group — possibly a big worship night! 
  • Serve breakfast to the local community of Primo Tapia.

Anyone is welcome to come and serve! Yes, that includes YOU!

Casa De Luz is passionate about creating missional opportunities for families.  Like Emmaus Road, they sincerely believe that there is immeasurable value in disciples of all ages living life together.   To make this possible, our trip will be designed as an opportunity for families to serve together, regardless of age.

What Will The Trip Cost? 

 $900/person will cover everything! Travel, food, and any associated costs with the ministry we are a part of, including work projects, VBS, and food distribution. The goal is to make the trip as affordable as possible, so that anyone who wants to join us can do so.  The team will be fundraising together to keep costs as manageable as possible. 

Travel, Food, and Accommodations

We will fly to California via Seattle, and then walk across the border to Mexico, where CDL will pick us up.  Once we're there, the team will stay at CDL.  The registration fee will also cover all our meals - including some of the best tacos you've ever eaten! 

Where Will You Stay & What Will You Eat? 

We will stay at the CDL Team Base:

  • Fully gated property located on the same block as CDL Children’s Center & La Hermosa Church 
  • A clean, functional kitchen — lunches and dinners will be prepared by women from the local church. The team is responsible for breakfast and snacks. 
  • Comfortable eating and hangout areas, including a large courtyard with a fire pit & games room 
  • Dorm-style rooms with bunk beds (each includes a mattress, bedding, and pillow). 
  • Separate bathrooms and showers on each floor. 
  • Internet access available.

Here are a couple ways you can help to financially support the trip!
Bottle Drive
Donate your empty bottles to help financially support those going on the trip!  

 Option A – Bring Bottles to Church 

  1. Fill a clear bag with your empties. 
  2. Bring the bag to church on Sunday. 
  3. A team member will take care of delivering it to the bottle depot. 

Option B – Drop Off at an Express Return-It Centre 

  1. Fill a clear bag with your empties. 
  2. Take the bag to any Express Return-It Centre. 
  3. At the kiosk, enter the phone number 604-996-7476 (Catherine VanderVeen). 
  4. Select the number of tags you need, print the tags, and attach one to each bag. 
  5. Leave your tagged bags in the designated drop-off area. 
TACO FEAST
Sunday, November 2

On Sunday, November 2, the team will be hosting a TACO FEAST following the service.  The lunch will be by donation, and during the meal we'll take time to share more about our upcoming trip in February.
